“Coming Home”

Worship Leader: Rev. Alicia Forsey; Personal Reflection: Marina McIntire

When we think of going "home" what comes to mind? Is it a specific place where we feel we truly belong -- either real or something we have always longed for? Or, is it a place we seek to find within the depths of wisdom contained in our inner selves?

“Laughter at the Heart of Things” alt

Worship Leader: Rev. Alicia Forsey

There are many kinds of laughter.  Sometimes laughter is simply a better option than getting upset.  Sometimes it is a spontaneous response to something that strikes us as funny, or silly, or slapstick.  Sometimes it is an aid to recovering from an illness.  And then there is the kind of laughter that is pure and free -- the kind that springs from the heart of things.

"The Ox Herding Pictures”

alt

Worship Leader: Rev. Alicia Forsey.,  Worship Associate, Jake Walsh.

The Ox herding Pictures depict stages of life that we pass through, beginning with emptiness and going through life's stages until emptiness is reached again.  These are ancient, and though they are traditionally from the Buddhist tradition, the message is universal.  What, if anything, has happened over time to make the various stages of life less clearly defined than what we find in these pictures?  Each depiction in the original pictures respected every stage of life as what was (at the time) appropriate and expected.  Do we have this kind of clarity and respect for each stage of life today?
