There have been interesting reports from this area recently, and it will be a good way for a refresher on waterfowl. Perhaps we can use our gull skills too. If you need to reach me, I will have my cell phone turned on after 7:30 AM. We will plan to have coffee at Barnes & Noble some time after 9:30 AM. Last week we had 500 plus double-crested cormorants on every available limb of the trees along the Willamette - they were not the least bit affected by all the human activity. Then an adult bald eagle sailed through and there were suddenly no cormorants! Quite a sight. We will plan to go to Barnes & Noble for coffee and treats between 9:30 and 10 AM. We will meet in the small parking lot on US 126 west of the Eugene City limits - drive west past Greenhill, and past Fischer Road. When you pass Fischer Road you will see large metal circles on posts that might remind you of huge tennis rackets - the place we are meeting is not far past that. I believe there is a binocular logo on the south side of the road that points to the parking lot. The parking lot is about a half mile past Fisher Road. Meet in the parking lot on the north side of the road at 8 AM. If you drive past a part of the lake you have gone too far. This walk will allow us to view a lot of waterfowl from the old roadbed and the dikes. We can find some goodies along the old road. I will have my cell phone turned on after 7:30 AM in case you need to find us - 336-1637. We will plan on having breakfast at the Midtown Food Court (right next door to Newman's Fish on Willamette) about 10 AM for those who like to sleep in *grin*. Judie
