The Membership Committee

This Committee consists of a chairperson (or co-chairs), appointed by the Board of Trustees, and UUCE volunteer members. The committee is responsible for welcoming newcomers, visitors, members and friends and assisting them to become integrated into the church community.

 Do you have questions?

To facilitate communication and participation in our church community, the Committee publishes

  •  Directory of members and friends
  •  Overview for Visitors brochure with a brief introduction to UUCE
  •  Resource Guide which gives contact information for staff members and church leaders and describes the various volunteer committees, working groups, and interest groups.

Ushers and Greeters at Sunday services are available before and after service to answer your questions, and can help you find information on the pamphlet rack.

At least twice a year, the Committee offers a Newcomer Orientation series designed to acquaint newcomers with Unitarian Universalism principles and history, as well as with the operation and activities of UUCE.  The next series will be in the spring, 2012.

For those who wish to take on the rights and responsibilities of membership in UUCE, the Committee coordinates the appropriate arrangements. The Committee maintains membership rolls and provides an accurate count of voting members annually, and when requested.

Participation on the Membership Team

We are always interested in new participants in this committee. As the “front line” of the congregation, the Membership team wields considerable influence in shaping newcomers’ attitudes toward the church and their subsequent experience of it.

Therefore, it is important that those who serve on this committee place high value on their own UU membership, are committed to the mission and principles of the church, and are eager to convey their enthusiasm.

If you are interested in helping with the important self rewarding work of this committee, please contact the Membership Committee Chairperson.
