~ This is the (very) informal discussion list for Unitarian Universalists and friends in Lane County, Oregon. If you're a UU and thinking of moving to this part of Oregon (or even not thinking of moving to the area), you're welcome to subscribe too. ~ The purpose of this list is fun and sharing of opinions on just about any topic - think of it as a (rowdy) continuation of the coffee hour after Sunday services. ~ We encourage members to trim quoted material when replying to messages. If you want to share a long article written by someone else, please provide a summary or a section of it plus the link rather than quoting it in full. ~ The listmanagers focus on the techie stuff, and are not overly worried about exact Netiquette. However, criticism of individual members of our community, especially those who are not on the list, is highly discouraged. The moderators of this list reserve to right to remove anyone who engages in such behavior. Using the list solely for purposes of publicity or self-promotion is also discouraged, and may be grounds for removal. ~ Do not annoy the listmanagers in any other way either. They determine when they are annoyed, and there is no appeal--although chocolate and extended grovelling may possibly lead to sentence modification... ~ Topics to date have included religion, recipes, national politics, free kittens, theology, used cars, state politics, volunteers to help move house for elderly church members, the merits or lack thereof of tapioca, local politics, silly jokes, dishwashers (machine and otherwise), more banter, and more politics. YOUR opinions, not only those forwarded from other sources, are what we crave. ~ Sometimes this list is high traffic - and sometimes not. Some subscribers love the chaos - others stick around a week or two, then flee. To unsubscribe - or to manage your subscription (digest, vacation, unsub) - go to the bottom of any message from the list and click the last link in order to get into your account. ~ Or ask the listmanager to carry out your wishes at webmaster@uueugene.org (The listmanager thinks this stuff is FUN, so don't think your request is a burden!)
