ARCHIVE PHOTOS - incomplete
I think we have a copy of this picture somewhere in our archives but I got this from the U of O library. It was taken by Roy Andrews in 1915 and the man with a beard sitting on the grass is Rev. Stephen Peebles, then about 70 years old. Unfortunately, Peebles is the only person identified in the photograph. There are hundreds of other Roy Andrews photos in the library almost all unlabeled. This was the only one I could definitely connect wtih the church. The print of this picture I looked at in the library was tiny so I was surprised to have them send me a 144mb file rather than the 167kb version you're getting with this message! In the early years of the church, the Women's Alliance had a number of picnics at the home of Mrs. Amelia Bancroft on College Crest and this could well be the location of this photo. I think her house was actually located at the south end of College Hill because the Alliance members would ride the trolley to the College Crest station at 28th and Friendly to go to these picnics.
