We're Building Room to Bloom!
With only weeks to go, we see our future church home taking shape daily. What are your hopes and dreams for what we can accomplish together in our new space?
The new building will transform how we engage with each other and the wider community. Soon we will have:
- A sanctuary where we can all worship together, our wonderful choirs can shine even brighter, and we will have room to welcome newcomers.
- A fellowship hall where we will strengthen our own community, with lots of space to connect after the service and share a meal or other church-wide activities together.
- Bright, spacious rooms for our children and youth and professional staff.
- A rejuvenated green building with high-efficiency lighting, roofing, heating, cooling, a bioswale and more.
- A central location in Eugene that is welcoming and accessible to our members and friends and to the larger community as well.
- A venue where we can sponsor social justice projects and help those in need.
- A venue for community arts—concerts, poetry, performance—the possibilities are endless.
- A home to nurture our beloved community for generations to come.
These are only some of the wonderful benefits we'll receive with our new Beautiful Unitarian Universalist Building (BUUB)—no doubt our creative, active congregation will come up with other great uses for the BUUB.
For daily progress reports on the wonderful efforts underway to transform our new space, please see the Building Property Oversight Committee posts at the 400 Days daily blog.
Status of Pledges and Gifts
The launch of the capital campaign on February 28, 2010 has yielded tremendous results. As of April 18, 2012, we have $1,908,268 in financial commitments to this important project with $1,814,483 already paid!
Our congregation's amazing level of dedication to this project shows that we can do anything we set our minds to—more than 28,000 volunteer hours and re-use of materials have saved us at least $750,000.
We have a matching gift opportunity to finish funding for renovations required to obtain our permanent occupancy permit. $51,000 is needed and $26,000 has been offered by 3 households if the rest of the congregation will match that amount. With the matching gifts paid so far, we only need $6,117 to finish the match!
Every size gift is welcome and appreciated. Our church community and the wider community we can serve are worth the investment.
