Board of TrusteesThe UUCE Board of Trustees consists of four elected officers of the church -- President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer -- and six trustees at-large, to administer the business affairs of the church. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall direction of the church, and establishing policies and programs to accomplish the needs and objectives of the church.
UUCE Board of Trustees OVERVIEWAs a result of both our membership growth, and our current transition from a Pastoral to a Program-style organization, the UUCE Board is at an exciting and challenging crossroads. We are moving from the smaller church structure of many committees working under the direct supervision of a Board, and independent of one another, to a more inter-connected organization of committees that empowers groups to do their work accountable to the church's mission, and with less direct management by the Board. This is very much a work in progress. Those in the Board At-Large positions find such work an exciting and a creative challenge, developing an organizational structure (plus related responsibilities and accountabilities) that will serve UUCE.
Activities of the Board can be read in the Board Meeting Minutes, found below in a list of dated attachments. Board Minutes below

RESPONSIBILITIES
We covenant to:~Practice forgiveness, generosity, and assume positive intent adopted March 2011
Board Covenant with the UUCE CongregationWe covenant together to:~ Be mindful that the owner of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Eugene is our Mission and that the Board is its fiduciary: we have duties of care, loyalty, and service to the Mission. ~ Recognize that churches that reach out will thrive; those that focus primarily on their own members will eventually decline. ~ Model generous giving of time, talent and treasure; and commit to reach the 5–10% charitable giving level as soon as possible. ~ Ensure that our actions and statements embody the belief that the congregation embraces an attitude of abundance. ~ Encourage younger members to bring forth new ideas and assume leadership roles. ~ Work with local faith communities. ~ Read writings of prominent religious leaders to understand more fully the nature and character of faith communities. ~ Take risks to enhance congregational life. ~ Recognize that a Leader’s role is not to please everyone. ~ Say “YES” to new ideas. ~ Make being a Board member our primary volunteer commitment. ~ Remember that our relationship with our minister is one of shared ministry, a covenantal relationship.
The Board also adheres to and actively promotes: The UUCE Covenant of RIGHT RELATIONS"We covenant to build a religious community guided by respect and sustained by our principles. We will listen appreciatively, speak with care, express gratitude, honor our differences, and assume good intentions. We will communicate directly, honestly and compassionately – particularly when we are in conflict. When we hurt one another we will ask for forgiveness and make amends, and when we are hurt we will try to forgive and reconnect in a spirit of right relationship. In celebration of the common mission that unites us, we will abide by this covenant." (Modified by the UUCE Board on 1/12/12)
Church Mission Statement:“Empowered by love, we transform ourselves and serve our world.” Covenant passed by the Board on March 10, 2011; Officially adopted by the Congregation on October 23, 2011.
