OnLine Auction Guidelines
FOR POSTING ITEMS AND FOR BIDDING ONLINE
-
If posting an item for the auction, please provide the information requested IN THE ORDER REQUESTED. (see Auction Item Submission page). Items are to be submitted to auction09@uueugene.org and we will list the item on the Bids page. The opening of bidding on items is Saturday June 13. The last day to post an item for auction is June 30.
-
The sellers will be managing the auctioning of their item(s), so they will want to check their email daily. At the end of each day please let the auctioneers at auction09@uueugene.org know the amount of the latest bid and the name of that bidder so that the website can be updated with the most recent bid. Regularly updating the website will save the hassle of having to let bidders know their competitive bid was too low. It is the responsibility of the individual offering the item to keep the auctioneers apprised of the latest bid. Sellers may wish to use the Auction Log to keep track of their bidders.
-
The seller will set both a date and time when bidding will cease, specifically on a date and at a time that the seller will be available to close out the bidding. If the seller does not state an earlier ending date and time, the default end is July 6 at 8pm sharp. It is the choice of the seller to stoke last minute bidding by letting their last bidders know what the most recent bids are.
-
Bids are to be sent to the email address of the seller. Bidsders observe any minimum bids and how to bid. If you as the Buyer choose to make a bid, click on the Seller's address (a link)and prepare to send them an email message. Mention the item number, your bid amount, and your name in your email message to the seller. Adding a phone number would be good too, but bidding takes place by email only. If you don’t have email, team up with someone who does.
-
REVISED - Individual "seats" for any event offering individual places must be priced by seat within the posting by the individual offering the event. The seller can chose to set a fixed price per seat — or a minimum price per seat. The former allows more participants with smaller incomes to participate, the latter (probably) brings in more money for the fundraising event. If selecting competitive bidding, please indicate how the winners will be determined (such as, "the top eight bids will be selected"). If you select a fixed price per seat, then please set a limit of two on how many seats one bidder can purchase. (Offering to cater an event is fine, but that offer belongs under the SERVICES category.)
-
Auction Angels - Use of Auction Angels is fine. An Auction Angel is anyone who substitutes their email address (and thus takes on the responsibilities of the Seller) for a Seller who is unavailable for the duration. Or an Auction Angel can carry out a Bidder's request in their name. All Angels must be registered with Auctioneers at auction09@uueugene.org.
-
The following categories will be used on the Service Auction page: Services, Entertainment, Dinners/Food, Cool Stuff, Food, Vacations, Family Fun and “Items too big for the garage sale.” (Large furniture, exercise equipment, and that folding ping pong table gathering dust in your garage all come to mind for this last category.) If we find we need another category, we will invent one.
-
The item must be paid for by the winning bidder(s) as soon as the bidding for that item closes. Checks should be made out to UUCE with “auction item # ___" in the memo line. Please send checks to Treasurer, UUCE, at 477 East 40th, Eugene, Oregon 97405. Let the seller know that you have sent in your check. All proceeds go the the UUCE general fund to support church activities.
-
The auction is formally over either at the date and time set by the seller
or July 6 at 8pm, whichever comes first.
