SINGLETARIANS

Our Mission:
The UUCE Singletarians is a group dedicated to building community within our church among single men and women.

Monthly Gatherings:
All single men and women are cordially invited to the UUCE Singletarians which meets at church on the fourth Friday of each month. UUCE Singletarians is publicized in the The Register-Guard and the Eugene Weekly to invite people from the community beyond our church to take part. The evening will include a brief introduction of the evening's topic/question/games (chosen for fun as well as interest), followed by small group discussion, and ending with refreshments, conversation and time to visit and get to know new people.

Cost:
A donation of $3 helps out, as does bringing munchies to share.

Meeting Times/Dates:
All gatherings take place at the church, 477 East 40th Avenue, Eugene, at 7:30 pm. on Fourth Fridays - sometimes upstairs, sometimes downstairs.

The UUCE Singletarians now includes a roster of 25+ people who have attended since our first gathering in July 2003. The average attendance each month is 12-14 people. Each gathering includes nearly equal numbers of men and women. The age range of those who attend (I'm guessing, since age in not important and no one asks) is more or less from age 20 to age 70+ but other age ranges are welcome too.

The gatherings are social with wine, cheese, crackers, pretzels, M & Ms, peanuts and wine and soft drinks. Our activities have included playing mindless, fun card games, sharing descriptions of our first jobs, using paper, glue, scissors and marking pens to depict a proverb (using no words) that the whole group had fun guessing, playing a "pictionary" type game using a large dry erase board and teams of players, playing a toss game using multiple, various sized balls simultaneously, and playing a version of "dictionary." Music is provided by a CD player to add to the social atmosphere.

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. I want to know if you still stand in the center of the fire and not shrink back.
