OUR WHOLE LIVES - May 2006
SEXUALITY EDUCATION FOR ADULTS
The Unitarian Universalist Association and the United Church of Christ have jointly developed a life span sexuality education program called Our Whole Lives (OWL). This program includes educational offerings for children, youth, and adults.
The adult curriculum is a series of 12 workshops designed to present information, deepen understanding and facilitate communication about sexuality. OWL focuses on sexuality in connection with love, relationships, family and spirituality. These connections are integral parts of the program.
On the weekend of May 12-14, 2006, the first half of the adult curriculum was offered in a weekend retreat format. Participants gathered Friday evening for a shared supper and introduction to the OWL program. All spent the Friday night at home, returned Saturday for a full day of facilitated discussion and training, and wrapped up discussion on Sunday afternoon.
The second half of the curriculum will be scheduled in conjunction with participants in Part 1. The series will be offered again during the 2006-2007 church year.
Facilitators Suzanne and Dennis Reynolds attended training for the adult curriculum early last fall. They invite up to 12 individuals to join them as fellow learners in exploring this vital and powerful part of our lives.
Watch for the sign-up after Sunday services beginning April 9, or contact the facilitators at suznden1@netzero.com or 683-6820. Couples are encouraged to participate together and individuals are also warmly welcomed.
