CHALICE LIGHTERS
Chalice Lighter grants are intended to help congregations by providing funds to implement a significant part of their growth plan Individuals participate in Chalice Lighters by making small contributions to the Chalice Lighter fund three times a year. The donated money goes to fund growth projects planned and implemented by congregations in the Pacific Northwest District. Churches seeking grants must have at least 30% of their members signed up as Chalice Lighters to be eligible. We at UUCE do not now have enough people signed up. Our 30% means 128 people. The most recent grant awarded in our District funded $10,000 to Port Townsend, Washington for their new sanctuary. Whidbey Island has asked for $17,000. A larger history of grant awards can be see here. Thanks to those local UUs who have recently joined the Chalice Lighter program. We are making progress toward our goal of 128 members as Chalice Lighters. Bjorn Olson and Judie Hansen would love to tell you more about it, but in the meantime, you can sign up on line at . You will receive three requests for $10 each year, with an explanation of how the money will be spent. There are also brochures about Chalice Lighters in the foyer at church. Our church contact is Björn Olson at <bdo2@lehigh.edu> When you do sign up, ask Björn for a Chalice Lighter Pin. He brings them to church each Sunday that he is present.
