RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (RE)

VOLUNTEERS
NOW is an especially good time to volunteer your time in the classroom. It is a new year, with new and refreshed energies, a new minister and much excitement afoot! Many adults have commented in the past how much they have learned about our religion and values by volunteering with the kids and youth during the year!

We need classroom volunteers that are male, female, elders, young adults (18+), parents and grand-parents...and everyone in between to offer a safe and diverse program. (Parents can’t do it all and we want the kids to have experiences with many perspectives!). We also need folks to hold babies, hang out with teens, and play with preschoolers.

You can get involved as a teacher or teacher's assistant, in work parties, in planning, supervising, guiding, as song leader, Family worship coordinator, storyteller, musician, playground repairer, driver, cook, sleepover assistant, costumer, RE librarian, advisor for different age groups, on the Religious Education Committee, in contributing to the Children's program newsletter. We Appreciate YOU.

What is my commitment if I volunteer?

• Two Sundays per month, at one service…one Sunday leading the activities provided by the DRE and RE Committee., and one Sunday, assisting a different lead volunteer.
     • Quarterly volunteer meetings, participating in RE services as needed.

What if I have never taught before?

We offer a training/orientation on how to work with kids and youth, plus there are quarterly volunteer meetings to stay connected and get ideas. In addition, you will have direct support from the DRE and RE Committee on curriculum and classroom management. The lessons are easy to use, and many give presentation suggestions.

Other Options for Participating
>>>
* Join short term task groups and help create fun for all ages. We need people to help put on our Halloween Party, Advent Garden, the Holiday pageant and Easter activities! We will be needing mentors for the Coming of Age program, as well as Coming of Age program planners.

>>>* We are developing a picture book wish list. If you would like to be a book donor and sponsor a book or two for the program, please contact the DRE.

>>>* We need a new hot laminator...the kind where you send 8 1/2x 11 sheets through (table top). Drop me a line if you have one collecting dust or would like to sponsor/help get us a new one.

>>>* We are also seeking more childcare providers for our church list. Do you have a great adult provider? Do you know a teen age 16 and older who has been reliable?
