RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Coming of Age (COA) Program

This rite of passage program is designed to honor the transition from 8th and 9th grade to Youth, a major step on their way to adulthood. The program includes credo writing (statement of beliefs), a mentor program, leadership and team building retreats, a Vision Quest, and ropes course.

Introduction to COA (pdf)

For more information, contact Judy Shaw 541-434-2462.

The Coming of Age Program

The UUCE is pleased to announce our latest Coming of Age Program for youth in 7th, 8th and 9th grades. In this exciting program, youth will be paired with mentors from our congregation as they explore values, examine rites of passage, work for social justice, challenge themselves, create a personal credo with the minister, and have fun!

A brown bag informational meeting will be held in the sanctuary on Sunday, March 7th from 12:30 to 2:30 for interested youth, their parents and prospective mentors.

For more information, contact Judy Shaw, chair, at judy_a_shaw@hotmail.com, or 541/434-2462; or call any committee member:  Angie Hickman, Chris Phillips , Daniel Blades or David Atkin.

About the Program

Events and other elements of the C.O.A. curriculum have been tested by other UU congregations across the continent. It is designed to give youth opportunities to stretch themselves, experience independence, and to consciously acknowledge this time in their lives as they move through youthhood toward adulthood.
